Residents disappointed over this new signal on the Old Mahabalipuram Road now

It is well known that in Old Mahabalipuram Road or OMR the traffic is very high and people are finding it tough. It must be noted that just two days back a new traffic signal between Madhya Kailash and Tidel Park started operating and it grabbed the attention of the people here. It is now said that residents who use this stretch between Madhya Kailash and Tidel Park are disappointed.
The reason for the disappointment is this signal inspite being a four way signal do not allow entry from Indra Nagar situated on the eastern side of OMR and entry from Kaanagam situated on the western side of OMR is also not allowed. This has made the lives of residents difficult now.
One important piece of information is motorists coming from Madhya Kailash face lots of problems here as there is no U-turn available. From Tidel Park to Madhya Kailash the cabs use this signal to transport the techies.
It must not be forgotten that Mr Traffic Ramaswamy who is a social activist had said that he would start an agitation if residents of both sides of OMR were denied free access to the road.
It is worthy to mention that the residents belonging to Kaanagam are involved in fighting a case in the court regarding this problem and these residents now wants direct access to Indra Nagar across OMR.
According to Mr E. Paneerselvam, the people would be benefited if the signal was in alignment with the Kalikundram main road. This Paneerselvam is a petitioner in the pending case is known.
According to a senior traffic police officer, the stop over time for the vehicles at Tidel Park signal has been reduced and these vehicles travel to Madhya Kailash easier now.
This senior police officer also spoke about how this signal was a huge relief for many motorists going to Adyar, Besant Nagar etc through Tidel Park.
