In T. Nagar in Chennai there would be multi level parking lot soon

Theyagaraya Nagar or T. Nagar is very famous place in the city of Chennai is well known. This place is highly congested because of traffic and people find it tough every day as vehicles get parked on the road itself.
The latest news is on Friday 2nd February 2018, minister for municipal administration Mr SP. Velumani said that multi level parking lot in Theyagaraya Nagar would be ready for use in another 18 months. At the project site this minister laid the foundation stone and this attracted the attention of many around.
It must be noted that this parking lot is one of the first proposals of Chennai Smart City project and now it has reached another phase and that is execution phase. It must not be forgotten that bids for the facility were received in September 2017 and this facility would come up on a land of area 1488 sq km.
Minister SP. Velumani spoke about the work order that was given just a month ago and he also spoke about how the work of building a multi level parking would be finished in 18 months.
It is superb to note that the structure would have as many as 6 floors above the ground level and it would also have 2 underground floors. The cost for this would be Rs 36.54 crores.
It is worthy to mention that the ground and 6 other floors could hold as many as 250 cars and 550 two wheelers could be parked in the basement. This would be reducing the traffic congestion as vehicles would not be parked on the roads.
Functional design of this parking lot has been approved by the corporation and there would be robotic trolleys that would carry the cars from and to a parking lot within the lot. According to an official the maximum time that would be needed to retrieve a car from the parking lot would be 60 to 90 seconds. It is important to note that the facility would have built-in drop protection.
It is now said that the parking lot would be a great feature in the proposed pedestrian plaza project of the corporation and there are plans by the corporation to introduce dynamic parking fee system for total Chennai.
It is said that in the residential places adjoining this facility a nominal fee for parking would be collected. There are some doubts regarding whether the same parking amount would be collected for vehicles of local residents and it is not clear as of now.
