Pongal festival special market fair started in Koyambedu

The special market fair for the oncoming Pongal festive season commenced yesterday (Sunday, 7th January). Sugarcane from various places has started arriving for sales in this fair.

It is a regular annual tradition for a 10-day special market fair to be organised in the Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market during the festive occasion of Pongal.

In this special market fair, important items for the Pongal Pooja and Prayers such as sugarcane, banana tree saplings, turmeric bunch, ginger bunch, earthen pots, and banana leaves would be sold.

The Pongal special market Fair commenced yesterday (Sunday, 7th January) at the backside of the Koyambedu flower market. The fair would continue until 16th January.

With just 6 days left for Pongal, the stock of sugarcane has started arriving from Theni, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, and other places.

A bunch of 15 sugar canes, based on their quality, is sold at up to Rs. 400.
