District of Chennai adds two lakhs people and expands in size now

It was six years back in 2011 the Chennai Corporation was expanded. Now the state government wants to expand Chennai district in line with the local body jurisdiction.
It is now revealed that the area of Chennai district has now increased to 426 sq kms and this is more than twice the already present 178.6 sq kms of area and 2 lakh people were added.
In his chamber in secretariat, Tamil Nadu chief minister Mr Edappadi Palanisamy launched the expansion programme.
Disaster management secretary Chandra Mohan expressed his views and said this expansion is very important and it would be of huge benefit for the people as the expansion would result in the ease of access to the government services. On Thursday 4th January 2018 order was issued by the state government and it showed many other advantages because of expansion.
It is worthy to mention here that the move has advantages in election processes, disaster management, land revenue increase plus there are also other advantages such as social security pension schemes etc.
It is clear that there were many problems for the people in availing the services of the government because the level of coordination between corporation and three district collectors was not good. This made the state to take up this expansion.
It is superb that on Thursday government expanded Chennai district in line with the Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC. It was in 1969 Chennai district was first formed and in the year it in 1979 it was expanded and villages of Chengelpet were added.
B. Chandra Mohan who is revenue and disaster management secretary spoke about how 2 lakh people from the taluks of Alandur, Maduravoyal, Sholinganallur, Ambattur, Madhavaram, Ponneri and Thiruvottriyur would be brought together under common Chennai district.
In the year 2011 when previous expansion took place extended areas approached local body services for sanitation etc and for the purpose of revenue services they approached the collectorates of Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram.
