More competition for Jio, Airtel revises prepaid plan

Airtel has now revised its Rs 799 prepaid plan, to ensure that its users will get up to 3.5GB 4G data per day. In total, the plan offers 98GB total data with a validity of 28 days.
The new plan also offers unlimited local and STD calls, however, there is a daily limit of 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes for the week. This tariff will be available for subscribers in Delhi/NCR, Assam, UP East, Chennai, Mumbai, UP West and Uttarakhand, etc, in November 2017. In addition, the plan also offers free outgoing and incoming on national roaming calls, and 100 free local + STD SMS per day.
The new plan is in competition with Jios Rs 799 prepaid plan that offers a total of 84GB 4G data with a daily FUP limit of 3GB for 28 days. The plan also offers unlimited local and STD calls with unlimited SMS.
Airtel has also announced its partnership with Intex to offer a low cost bundled 4G smartphone at a price of Rs 1,649 in a bid to counter JioPhone. Two other smartphones - Aqua A4 and Aqua S3 - will also be available at effective prices of Rs 1,999 and Rs 4,379, respectively as part of the partnership.
In an official statement, Airtel said that it has similar partnerships with handset makers Celkon and Karbonn, has expanded its Mera Pehla Smartphone initiative in collaboration with Intex.
