The year 2018 is at the verge of a bloom, celebrating plans and traditions are already into the peak of the process. Some things are very common among almost all traditions that prevail all over the World in different nations.

Taking an oath for a new habit, Visiting Mosque, Church, Temples etc, Mental Resolution, Setting physical and financial goals and Intense Prayer are some of the most common elements combined with a birth of a new year.

But some Countries follow bizarre traditions and customs to welcome their new year and here we list down some of the unique new year traditions in some Countries that people still follow;

Japan


Being an advanced Nation on a technical aspect of the whole World, Japan is also well known for prevailing some of the oldest traditions and customs for their festive rituals. Temple Bell ceremony will happen all over the country welcoming the year by ringing the bell for 108 times. 108 denote the number of desires and anxieties that needs to be purified for a new start.

Denmark



Denmark has a most bizarre tradition for welcoming the New Year breaking off the old dishes and plates at the doors of friends and families. To the surprise it is considered to be a great sign to have a big leap of broken dishes outside the door at the very start of the New Year.

Jumping off from a chair in midnight is another strange tradition still followed in Denmark for every New Year.

Here in this South American Country the color of the Under-wears decides the fate of the New Year. Red stands for Romance and love, Green for good health, Gold for Prosperity and then White for Peace.

Spain



Spain has a simple tradition of eating twelve Grapes in the midnight for symbolizing the good fortune throughout the year’s progression.

Dropping off your Ice-cream on the floor may bring a big chaos in to your house by the Children. But it is considered as a good sign of a New Year. Swiss people drop off a bunch of Ice Cream containers on the floor to bring prosperity and luck to themselves and their families.

French celebrates their New Year with a feast consisting of Pancakes, Champagne and Foie Gras. The feast with friends and family brings the joyousness of the night and they believe that the same happiness will prevail throughout the year.

A frightening tradition of spending the New Year eve in the cemetery with the loved one who were deceased. According to the Chilean people it will bring peace to the deceased soul and also the family connected to it.

South Africa


Throwing the old furniture and appliances from the tall buildings is the strangest tradition we may come across for a New Year Celebration. It is ranked as a most bizarre tradition and it is still followed in South Africa.

Ireland


Irish people hit their house walls with bread to get rid of evil spirits and negative energies. This will clear away all the old negative clinging inside the house and bring peace and prosperity to their lives.
