When will the vegetable prices come down?

Posted on: 28/Nov/2017 4:41:20 PM
As the harvesting of the vegetables in the Northern States got delayed, only lesser quantity has arrived in the wholesale markets and hence, the prices of the vegetables have gone up.

The vegetable traders explained that as the harvest is completed now, more quantity will arrive at the wholesale market leading to a reduction in vegetable prices.

Maharashtra and Karnataka are the leading states in India in the field of vegetable harvesting. This year, the Southwest monsoon rainy season had failed and its arrival was delayed and erratic leading to the delay in harvesting of vegetables.

Presently, the harvested vegetables have not reached the vegetable markets yet. This has led to an increase in demand for the vegetables and the subsequent increase in the prices of the vegetables.

Now, it is learned that the harvested vegetables have started arriving soon in the wholesale vegetable markets and the prices have started reducing.

In a similar trend, as the Southwest monsoon rainy season did not bring sufficient rains in Tamil Nadu, certain vegetables like onions could not be harvested.

As the monsoon rains were delayed, the harvesting also got delayed, In fact, it has started only very recently. The products have started arriving in the market. This is why the prices of some vegetables such as green chillis and others have come down as compared to the prices in the previous week.

When all the vegetables started in large quantities to the wholesale vegetable market, the prices of these vegetables, including small onion, will come down.
