The vegetable traders informed that the price of small onion is increasing further. They told that there are no prospects of any price reduction till the Pongal festival.

A wholesale onion trader explained that the quantity of small onion arriving for sales has reduced greatly. So, it is being sold at Rs. 150 to Rs. 180 per kg. The price of the small onion is affected mainly due to the heavy rains in the state of Karnataka.

Earlier, the small onion was transported and brought in a minimum of 10 lorries. Now, not even half-a-lorry load of small onion arrives in the market.

So, there are no prospects of the small onion price to reduce till the Pongal festival. In a similar trend, the tomato is being sold at Rs. 50 per kg, the carrot at Rs. 60 per kg, and ginger (old) at Rs. 70 per kg.
