Poondi Lake:

 At 86% of its live capacity of 3,645 Mcft. Was at 1,052 Mcft on this day last year. 

The Puzhal lake is of reservoir type spread across a land area of 4500 acres or 19.6 crore sq. ft. It is of a total 50 feet depth with capacity of over 330 Crores Cubic Feet.
 
The lake lies close to Ponneri, Thiruvallur. Built by the British Government of India in the 1876, the lake primarily serves to store water received from the Krishna River, Andhra Pradesh under the Telugu Ganga Project via Sholavaram Lake and Poondi Reservoir.
 
Until 2012, the Water Resource Department (WRD) of the State Government of Tamil Nadu has been maintaining the lake at a cost of Rs. 5 lakh per year.
 
The water level in the lake raised up to 225 Crore Cubic Feet out of its total 330 Crore Cubic Feet during the inundating showers of November 2015. This is almost 68 percent of its total storage space.
