Chennai rain update - Chennai records the highest rainfall of the year

Chennai records the highest rainfall of the year and again typical rainy start expected while we go to office today. South Chennai, OMR, Tambaram belt could see heavy rains. Other parts of Chennai too will get rains.
Its going to be another rainy day for Chennai. Rains will start in another 30 mins. At times the spell could be intense and then breaks and rains will continue like this throughout the day with breaks. Pondycherry and Cuddalore is also going to be smashed with heavy spell of morning rains.
Drive safely as traffic jams are again expected.
Chennai Region was smashed further in the night. Here are some of the preliminary rainfall till now (7.30 am). Its pretty heavy rainfall.

Nagapattinam got smashed
In Nagai, Srikazhi has got 300 mm as per news reports, Kollidam has got 225 mm and Manalmedu 133 mm. Cuddalore too many stations have recorded over 100 mm.
