Beware of these phishing activities on your bank details

Posted on: 31/Aug/2017 12:26:25 PM
Day by day, phishing activities on banks and credit cards are getting increased. So, as a preventing measure, here we have a pile of information that need to be considered when you receive a call, message or link from unidentified users. Check out.

Dos:
  • Keep checking your bank details as often as you can. Check whether there is any unidentified transaction done by anyone other than you.
  • Ensure that there are secure session indicators such as padlock on websites that request your personal details
  • It is important to make use of a latest anti-virus software and firewall software
  • Share information about your credit card number or account details through secure website or IVR only
  • Make sure of having an updated browser and verify that it has security patches applied
  • By mistake, if you happen to share your bank details to someone illegitimate, inform your bank immediately
  • Instead of clicking any hyperlink, feed the bank website address whenever you want to login to your bank account
Don’ts:
  • If you get any hyperlink within email, do not click on it. You should rather verify the URL separately
  • For any sort of mail seeking your personal information, do not give any reply
  • If you receive offers for money from abroad, do not respond
  • Never give replies or responses to schemes or offers from unknown entities
  • Don’t give any reply to mail or messages that claim the recipient to have won lump sum money from an online lottery or promotion
  • Do not fill any form shared in mail that demand your personal financial information
  • If you receive any links through mail or message or other platform from unidentified sender, or when you suspect the legitimacy of the message content, do not click or forward
  • Details such as credit card number, expiry date, CVV, OTP, bank login password, etc are highly confidential. Do not share any of them when you get any unsolicited calls or SMS or IVR or mails that claim to activate or upgrade your card, or for IT refund or redemption of rewards
