Posted on: 06/Jun/2017 4:17:25 PM
It rained all of a sudden in Chennai this afternoon (Tuesday, 6th June). This brought great relief to the public who were oppressed for long with the scorching summer.

The Southwest monsoon rain season had started in Kerala last week. So, some areas of Tamil Nadu state situated in the Kerala border, Sengottai, Kanyakumari, and Kaliyakkavilai have been experiencing heavy rains. Papanasam in Thirunelveli district recorded a rainfall of 14 cm yesterday (Monday, 5th June).

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects of average to heavy rain in a few places in the next 2 days in Tamil Nadu. Further, the southwest monsoon is all set to start in 3 days in Tamil Nadu.

In Chennai Metro, it suddenly started raining at 2.45 PM in a few places like Thousand Lights, Triplicane, Kodambakkam, and Vadapalani.

As the rain was accompanied by the wind, it was difficult for the drivers to drive their vehicles. At the same time, the rain was a definite relief for them. Rainwater started mildly flooding the road. However, the rain lasted only for a very limited period.
