Plus 1 annual exams set to become public examinations

Posted on: 28/Apr/2017 3:04:06 PM
Until 40 years ago, the school classes were from 1st Standard to 11th Standard. At that time, the 10th Standard annual examinations were under the domain of the respective schools and it was not public. The Public Examination was conducted for the 11th Standard.

As there were gradual changes in the education system, the concept of plus 1 and plus 2 classes was started. Following this, only the annual examinations of 10th standard (SSLC) and plus 2 classes were public examinations.

Presently, annual examinations for plus 1 classes are not public and they are under the domain of the respective schools. So, the students of plus 1 students have been observed to relax and take it rather easy as there is no public examination. It is also generally observed that in many schools, instead of teaching plus 1 lessons on subjects, it seems plus 2 syllabus is taken up for teaching in the plus 1 classes.

In this scenario, the central government has made a pass in the NEET is necessary for admission to medical courses all over India. Tamil Nadu government passed a petition in the Legislative Assembly to seek exemption from this central government order which has now been sent to the president for approval.

NEET is scheduled to be conducted on 7th May. The president’s approval for Tamil Nadu government appeal for exemption from NEET is to expected before this date.

Information is gathered that many of the questions asked in NEET will be drawn from the plus 1 syllabus. So, the state government expects that plus 1 students will study the syllabus for them more seriously if their annual examinations are rendered public.

Because of the reasons above, the state government of Tamil Nadu has decided to make the plus 1 annual examinations as public examinations.

The official announcement regarding this is expected shortly.
