New Farm fresh shop in R.K Nagar Constituency

A new Farm fresh shop with modern facilities has been set up in the constituency of R.K Nagar (Chennai) where the former Chief Minister contested twice and won.
In order to keep the prices of vegetables under check in the urban areas and also to help the farmers get their fair prices for their products, the Farm fresh shop were opened in Chennai Metro City in the year 2013 on behalf of the Department of cooperatives.
Currently, there are 72 farm fresh shops including 2 mobile shops in Chennai Metro City. So far, around 17000 tons of vegetables have been sold from these shops.
Apart from this, there are 394 pharmaceutical shops including 106 Amma Marundhagangal run on behalf of the Cooperatives Department. The medicines are sold at a 15 percent discount. So far, over Rs. 350 Crores worth of medicines have been sold by these shops.
As a trendsetter or model set-up for all Farm fresh shops, the cooperative department had decided to set up a new Farm fresh shop complex in K K Nagar Constituency (Former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa) covering sales of vegetables, fruits, and grocery items,
In order to set up this shop, an 800 sq ft place located in Royapuram Jeevarathinam Road in ward No. 43 owned by the Chennai Metro Corporation has been handed over to TUCS. The old construction of unused toilet earlier was removed and a new building was constructed.
Now, the new modern Far fresh shop is set to be opened here. Apart from vegetables, grocery items, fruits, ice creams, cool drinks, and medicines are sold here.
The shop was opened just a few days ago before the announcement of the local assembly election. It is worth mentioning that in recent times, no other similar shop has been opened with so many facilities. Naturally, the shop has attracted a large number of customers in a huge way.
