Fees increase in private schools

Posted on: 13/Mar/2017 3:58:26 PM
The fees for education has been increased by most schools by 20 to 30 percent. As the bus fare has also been increased by a steep margin, the parents have been put to extreme hardship.

There are more than 150 Matric and CBSE schools and over 300 nursery schools in Salem district

As the parents regard admitting their kids in Government Schools as below their dignity, the strength of the students being admitted in private schools has been growing by leaps and bounds every year.

Exploiting this situation to the maximum, the various private schools have been literally robbing the poor parents in a variety of charges and fees.

In order to prevent this daylight robbery, the state government formed a committee to fix the school fees for the schools. However, none of the leading private schools in the city pay any attention to this.

Though the regulations state that the fees once fixed will be valid for 3 years, the schools never follow this and keep increasing the fees every year instead of the stipulated 3-year period.

The annual examinations are in progress in CBSE schools. As such, the school authorities have started send notice to the parent to pay the school fees.

Many of the CBSE schools have raised the fees by 20 to 30 percent. The school bus charges are also increased by 20 percent. The parents are indeed shocked at these developments.

Some parents observed that as there is no government restriction on these private schools, they keep increasing the fees every year. After admitting their kids in private schools, the parents do not have any other choice except to pay the increased fees.

Thus, the burden of educating their children has become a huge one for the parents.

In fact, the expenses for LKG has become more than the fees for engineering courses. The leading private schools are almost running their institutions like empires. They fix the fees as they please and keep introducing various other charges.

A leading private school in Salem has increased their fees by more than Rs. 20000.

On another front, citing the reasons of diesel price rise and a shortage of drivers, the school management has increased the bus fares as well. Indeed, the parents are beset with this huge burden of additional expenses.
