2 new parks at Manappakkam at Rs 1 crore

At a cost of Rs 1 crore, two parks are likely to be launched in Manappakkam. The construction works are estimated to get over by next month and will be open for public soon. Manapakkam falling within 157th ward, Alandur zone has been under municipality control until 2011. A decade ago, there were apartments being constructed there.
Due to lack of sufficient funds, the works to construct park has been getting dragged. After bringing the area under corporation limit, Rs 54.72 lakh was allotted to construct park in Riveryu Colony and Rs 53.80 lakh for setting up park at Arcod Road. Soon after allotting funds, the construction works had begun.
More than 90 percent of the works have got over at the Arcod Road Park. On Riveryu Colony, 75 percent works are done and works are still in progress and the entire work will get wrapped up by next month. Sooner after completion, the parks will be kept open for the public.
