Aadhar number turns mandatory for over 84 government schemes

Over 84 welfare schemes by the central government are now directly linked to Aadhar numbers. In his note about this, one of the senior central government officials said that 48 welfare schemes have thus far been linked with Aadhar and that 50 more of them will be linked soon. For kids aging between 5 and 18, 70 percent of them are distributed with Aadhar number. Those belonging to the remaining 30 percent can get Aadhar card before 30th June at their respective schools.
In addition to mandating Aadhar card for midday meal scheme, the centre has made Aadhar compulsory for special training programs for the physically challenged.
It is also mandated to avail subsidy in education loan. Sooner, it will be mandated at rehabilitation centres for alcoholics, old age homes, etc.
