Nasscom says decision on H1B visa is likely to hit Indian IT firms

Posted on: 06/Mar/2017 11:32:19 AM
Nasscom, on Sunday, stated that the temporary suspension to expediting premium processing of H1B visa will have its effect with process delays for the IT firms in India.
Due to the temporary suspension of premium H-1B processing, process delay is likely in Indian companies. This however is not a concrete impediment, Nasscom adds.

Nasscom and the US Embassy in India will collaborate and take necessary steps not to affect professionals by the process delays. Earlier, before a couple of months, the same had happened for clearing backlog. Nasscom will associate with the US Embassy in India for initiating better mobility of talented Indians not to get hit by the process issue.

Large numbers of H-1B holders belong to TCS, Infosys, and Wipro. For these companies, the visa approval waits for long. There will be large impact towards functioning speed and agility of these IT firms, said D.D. Mishra, the Gartner Research Director.

Several projects require immediate addressing from the IT companies. Due to varied issues pertaining to the account or project, the responding may be either planned or unplanned.

For addressing these requirements, it may become a necessity to hire expensive resources onsite to avoid delay in initiatives that are time sensitive.
