Supreme Court convicts Sasikala in DA case

Posted on: 14/Feb/2017 10:58:33 AM
Just before few minutes, the official verdict was passed on by Supreme Court that claimed a strong decision on imprisoning Sasikala for a span of 4 years. This was a long pending disproportionate case that was going on for a phase of nearly two decades. This has apparently made the situation clear that Sasikala remains disqualified to acquire the position of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

Last year, the Government of Karnataka took upon the mission of posing challenge to the decision undertaken by High Court on discharging Late Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, Sasikala and her relatives, VN Sudhakaran and Elavarasi over this disproportionate assets case. This was in accordance to the acquiring of property worth 66.65 Crore during the domain of J Jayalalitha as Chief Minister on first term between 1991 and 1996.

The Supreme Court charge sheet came up with 2000 page and it has insisted for an immediate surrender followed by jail sentence of 4 years and a penalty of Rs.10 Crore. On the other end,  Golden Bay Resort in Koovathur had 4 State Transport buses with the complete protection of police forces led by two IGP rank officers. Several parts of Chennai and Tamil Nadu have been offered complete protection by police officers to avoid havoc and any upheaval.
