Supreme Court agrees to adjourn verdict on jallikkattu by a week

The Supreme Court has agreed to the appeal from the central government to adjourn the verdict on jallikattu case by a week in order to prevent any riot/disturbance on the legal activities to be undertaken after the verdict.
The Tamil Nadu government has decided to enact an emergency ordinance which will enable to remove the current ban on conducting jallikattu. The central government and the state government are having discussions in this regard.
The Central government representative lawyer Mukul Rohatgi has appealed to the Supreme Court to adjourn the verdict on the Jallikattu case at least by a week.
The lawyer has mentioned in his appeal that if the verdict is given in the present situation, it would extremely adversely affect the current burning situation. So, it would be better for the Supreme Court to allow Status Quo for the present.
The bench of judges of the supreme Court headed by Justice J. S. Kehar conducted an enquiry on the lawyer’s appeal and in the sitting, the bench accepted the request given by the central government lawyer Mukul Rohatgi.
