1513 arrested in crackdown against crime in Chennai

The Chennai police arrested 1513 people, including gangsters, rowdies and ganja peddlers, during a crackdown on Saturday and Sunday. In order to curb the increasing crime in the city, Police commissioner S George has ordered for this crackdown. Accordingly the police on Saturday night raided throughout Chennai. Severe raids were conducted in hotels and lodging houses. On suspicion 1463 were arrested immediately.
Moreover 41 persons were arrested under Criminal Procedure Act. 6 old criminals were arrested and 3 criminals who jumped bails were also arrested.
On the whole 1513 criminals were arrested.
