BSNL plans to encourage electronic payment mode

One of the popular Public Sector Undertakings with a large customer base, BSNL, has decided to lease 15000 POS (Point Of Sales) devices in order to encourage payments on the electronic mode.

BSNL informed that it had taken the step to lease POS devices with a view to encourage and increase the number of customers to pay in electronic mode.

BSNL has targeted to double the extent of electronic transactions at the present level. The President and Managing Director of BSNL, Mr Anupam Srivasthava informed that it has planned to ensure that 40 percent of the payments from the customer is to be made on the electronic transaction by March 2017.

The public has come to look forward to the electronic mode of payment. As the electronic payment grows throughout India, BSNL has also joined in this effort to increase the same.

Presently, around 1500-2000 POS facilities are available at customer service centres. Among the 334 telecommunication districts, BSNL is planning to equip 20 to 35 customer service centres with POS devices.

BSNL has already initiated discussions with banks for leasing arrangement for POS devices.
