The Reserve Bank of India has taken complete responsibility of preserving all debit card details. Accordingly, if the debit card details are stolen, in any unfortunate scenario, the RBI will take necessary action.

There were malicious actions observed at State Bank of India ATM centres last week. Hence, over 6.2 lakh debit cards were disabled. Soon, these customers will receive debit card replacements, according to SBI announcements. Further, it is suspected that over 32 lakh users’ debit card details are stolen. This has put every debit card users dumbstruck.

In an order rolled out to the Reserve Bank in this regard, it is stated that the debit cards need to be replaced immediately. Further, a detailed report on the total number of debit cards stolen should also be submitted.

Following a detailed discussion session by the Finance ministry with reserve bank and national payment corporation, the RBI will henceforth stand responsible of the safety and security of debit card details. Hence, it is expected that such data breach will not take place anymore.
