Apple has always been making digs at Google by making comparison between adoption rates of contemporary iOS and Android versions. The slow adoption rate with Android seems to be the reason behind its unsafe state thus getting attacked by dated malware.

Until last year, over 9,00,000 Android devices are attacked by malware. This keeps totting up, thus creating threaten to smartphones and tablets that are functioning on Google’s Android, says a latest report from Chinese antivirus firm, Cheetah Mobile. The company’s study indicates that over 10,000 new devices are getting affected on a daily basis still. Out of this, about 50 percent of the attacked devices are based in India.

Cheetah Mobiles had discovered this malware ghost push about one year ago. According to the reports, smartphones with Lollipop or older versions of Android are more prone to the malware as compared to others.

Phones with android versions 6.0 and after are not getting infected, but Marshmallow devices are highly prone. The Ghost Push malware targets to acquire access to the root of Android devices that are affected and following this, the malicious apps are installed.

The Android distribution data from Google released in September says 18.7 percent of Android phones function on Android 6.0 Marshmallow or versions released later. This accounts to over 81.3 percent android phones being at the risk of malware attack.
