73 Crore internet users in India by 2020

A survey reveals that the current number of internet users will double by the year 2020. The report specially mentions about India that 73 Crore Indians would be using the internet.
There has been a trend of increasing number of internet users even in villages and rural areas in India.
The survey, undertaken by NASSCOM and Akamai Technologies, called India’s Internet Future, reveals that the number of internet users in India will double by the year 2020.
The number of internet users in India in the year 2015 was reckoned to be 35 Crores. The survey expects this to increase to 73 Crores by the year 2020.
It is worth mentioning that India ranks after Chine in the number of internet users.
The internet market is growing rapidly in India. 73 percent of the new users will be rural areas. The survey mentions that most of the new users would be utilizing the local language services on the internet.India’s internet usage has exceeded the United states of America.
Expecting that India would be the 2nd largest internet user in the world, it is established that internet usage is penetrating the rural areas at phenomenal speed.
NASSCOM Head Mr. R. Chandrasekhar has mentioned that the internet plays a crucial role in creating opportunities for every single person.
