Android phones will soon have a new feature that can help users disable their smartphones using the internet. This comes in use if your smartphone is stolen or lost. In these cases, you can completely disable the phone  by bricking it and permanently disabling it from booting. The new feature will also help you track the phone over the internet and brick the device.

Developers say that Google already allows you to brick the device via recovery mode. This feature is also accessible from the Android Device Manager. It is designed to securely wipe put all the partitions on the lost device, whether it is a phone or a tablet. OEM manufactures will need to help as it need an operating system to allow access to the partitions.

The new feature will enable users to have the power to remotely kill their lost Android smartphones and render them useless. Google is also said to include this feature in Android N as well as Android Device Manager. By remotely bricking your phone, you can take control over your privacy. It will render the device completely useless. As all the partitions are wiped out, the phone will refuse to boot. It will lose all data and functionality. This process us irreversible.

Questions have arisen whether Google will provide users a method to recover the phone back to working condition if the user finds his smartphone back. For now, users should know that this is the last resort if the device is unrecoverable.
