5 Lakhs people travel in metro rail during the months of April and May

In the first phase, the Chennai Metro Rail is operating metro rail services from Koyambedu to Alandur, a distance of 10 kms. Now there is increase in the commuters because of the summer holidays.
During the month of March, 2 lakhs 41 thousands and 987 people have travelled in metro rail. Similarly during the month of April, 2 lakhs 67 thousands and 418 people have travelled. In these two months 5 lakhs, 9 thousands and 405 people have travelled in the metro rail. Metro Rail officials have mentioned that there will be increase in the traffic this month also.
