Chennai Metro: Egmore-Thirumangalam section will be complete by 2018

Metro Rail project work is in full swing progressing in the sections between Egmore-Thirumangalam & Washermanpet- Chennai Airport.
The work on the elevated corridor in the section between Saidapet-Chinnamalai-Airport is likely to be completed by March 2017.
In this sections, the railway stations Guindy, Aalandur, Nanganallur Road, and Meenambakkam.
The tunneling track laying work in the section between Egmore-Thirumangalam will be completed by December 2017.
The Railway stations in this section are Nehru Park, Kilpauk, Pachaiyappa`s College, Shenoy Nagar, Anna Nagar East, and Anna Nagar Tower.
Tunneling & track-laying work in the section between Wasermanpet-Central is completed by April 2018. The railway stations in this section are Mannadi & High Court.
Tunnelling & track-laying work in the section between Government garden-Saidapet is likely to be completed by November 2018. The railway stations in this section are LIC, Thousand Lights, DMS, Teynampet, and Nandanam.
Extension work is under progress for 9 km distance between Washermanpet- Wimco Nagar with new track-laying work. A detailed report has already been prepared for this. In this corridor, the first 22 km will be through tunnels and 6.8 km will be on elevated. There are 3 railway stations in this route. This construction is being done by the Company Cistra from France.
3 more tracks are also being planned under the Chennai Metro Project. With work in 2 sectors already in progress, the 3rd sector project from Madhavaram, Purasaiwalkam, Nungambakkam,. Radhakrishnan Nagar,. And Luz.
In the 4th secotor, the route covers Koyambedu, Vadapalani, Kodambakkam, Luz, Mandavalli, Adyar, Thiruvanmiyur, and Injambakka.
In the 5th sector, the route covers Madhavaram, Villivakkam, Mogappair, Maduravayil, Chennai Trade Centre, Aadambakkam, Medavakkam,. And Perumbakkam.
The total distance covered by the projects for sectors 3, 4, & 5 is 84 km.
