With the continuously decreasing water levels of all major reservoirs supplying drinking water to Chennai Metro city, there are grim prospects of facing severe water shortage during summer.

With city’s population in excess of 80 Lakhs, Chennai corporation needs to provide 900 million litres of water every day. However, currently, it can supply only 580 million litres every day.

Besides, the water supply is made only every alternate days to different sections of the city.

With rapidly dwindling levels of the major reservoirs, acute drinking water shortage may occur during the coming summer!
