Newborns and mothers can reach home safe with "drop back"

Here comes a brilliant move by the Chennai Corporation helping all pregnant women, and those ladies who just got an infant delivered. You can now be able to travel to your home the safest way, as the city corporation has launched a new facility called ‘drop back’ in all its hospitals across the city. The service got started in two of the city hospitals which are Saidapet and Aynavaram.
According to officials, this will be of help for at least 18,000 mothers every year. To note, the maternity hospitals of the corporation are currently present in locations including Vadapalani, Tiruvottiyur, Pushpa Nagar, Meenambal Nagar, Padi, Shenoy Nagar, Alandur, Porur, Pulianthope, Senjevaroyanpet, and Adyar.
This new facility ‘drop back’ is launched as a part of Union health ministry’s Janani-Shishu Suraksha Karyakram which began in 2011. Though it was launched four years ago, the benefits of the scheme reached the poor just recently.
