The cession of Mattu Pongal today is being celebrated today throughout Tamil Nadu in grand festive spirit.
The farmers utilise this occasion to register their gratitude for the bulls which helped in the farming by decorating them after bathing them and then perform special Poojas on them.
Some of the farmers took their bulls to the nearby temples to offer special Poojas & prayers.
