More loads of sugarcanes reach Koyambedu Wholesale Vegetable Market!

Sugarcane is being transported from Madurai, Cuddalore, Panruti, Chidambaram, Sethiyathoppu, Salem, and Theni to the Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market for the special occasion of Pongal.
Trucks carrying sugarcane have been arriving over the last few days, the number of trucks gradually increasing every following day. 150 trucks arrived yesterday (13rth January).
Other special items for the Pongal Poojai such as bunch of ginger, turmeric, etc have also started arriving.
A load of sugarcane which arrived by 10 trucks from Madurai, got sold out immediately.
Sugarcane from Madurai is sold as per the quality ranging from Rs, 300/- (for a bunch of 15 sugarcanes) to Rs. 400/-.
Sugarcanes from other places are sold at Rs. 200/- to Rs. 300/- per bunch of 15.
A bunch of ginger of 10 pieces is sold at Rs. 50/- to Rs. 100/-. A bunch of turmeric is sold at Rs. 60/- to Rs. 100/- for a bunch of 10 pieces.
A trader informed that the yield of sugarcane was more this year as compared with the previous year and this is the reason for more quantity of sugarcane. 700 trucks of sugarcane were sold last year. This year, it is expected that more than 1000 trucks of sugarcane will be sold.
