Accidents in Chennai roads have come down

In the last three years, vehicles on the Chennai roads have been increased by 10 Lakhs. But the accidental deaths have come down. Licences of 16, 616 people who were under the influence of alcohol have been cancelled. police commissioner S George while speaking said, “We cancelled as many as 5,903 licenses of motorists booked for driving under the influence of alcohol.”
Regional Transport Officers had sent police recommendations to cancel 16,616 licenses.
Additional commissioner of police (traffic) P Thamarai Kannan said,” “We brought down the number of deaths despite the fact that there were 10 lakh more vehicles in the city in 2014 than in 2011, when there were 34 lakh vehicles.“
