8000 tickets were booked on a single day by passengers planning to travel to their native places for celebrating Pongal festival.
Tamil Nadu Transport Corporations are operating 7250 buses throughout the state for facilitating travel on the festive occasion.
Out of this, 4,655 buses are scheduled to leave from Chennai city alone to other places.
There are 5 permanent counters in Koyambedu bus terminus. Now, 20 additional special counters have been set up.
8000 tickets have been reserved on the 1st day of booking.
Facility for on-line reservation has been arranged for travels above 300 km.
