Amendments are being carried out in the mode of payment for electricity bills over Rs. 5,000/-.

EB has requested the public to give their opinions/feedbacks on this proposal before 31st January.

The rates for electricity have been revised from 12th December. Following this, EB authorities are introducing new regulations in the bill payments.

Only cheques or Demand drafts will be acceptable as payment for bills over Rs, 5,000/-.

Meanwhile, the officials can accept payment by cash for the first time (for bills over Rs. 5,000/-) and they should advise the customers to pay by cheques or DDs from the next time.

Modifications are being carried out in the Electricity Distribution Acts 14, section-4.

If the cheques bounce, the customer has to pay again only be Demand Draft. A decision may be taken to accept cheque payments only after the official checks the payment pattern. This is applicable for both Low Voltage & High Voltage consumers.

If the cheque bounces due to error in wiring or mismatch of signatures, the official may accept the cheque payment for the next 4 times.

All consumers are instructed to make payments as per the new regulations.

If any objections are to be made by the domestic or industrial consumers, they can approach the EB regulation board official and inform the same before 31st January.
