Tamil Nadu Government to organise ‘Jallikkattu’ contests!

Tamil Nadu government has confirmed that it is organising all activities to arrange ‘jallikkattu’ competition.

A press release from the office of the Chief Minister, Mr. O. Panneerselvam, informs that all activities are taken to organise ‘jallikkattu’ on the occasion of Pongal festival.

CM has indicated that that the re-petition submitted by the state government is still pending judgement after Supreme Court’s order banning the sport of jallikkattu.

The Chief Minister has informed that the state senior officials met the senior officials of the requesting the department of environment & forestry, which had kept the trained animals in their custody to release them.

CM had also insisted that actions to be taken as per the amendments made on Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

He indicated that the senior state officials from the state will visit Delhi again to meet the concerned officials of the central government.

The Chief Minister has observed that if the request is acceded, the state government will proceed to organise the ‘jallikkattu’ taking caution to follow the court rulings.
