Distribution free dhotis & saris in January!

Arrangements have been made for the distribution of free dhotis and saris from 1st week of January.
Tamil Nadu government has been traditionally distributing free dhotis and saris for the (poor) public to celebrate the special occasion of Pongal every year.
This time, Pongal falls on 15th January, 2015.
All green ration card holders and the senior citizens in the pension scheme will be given items such as rice and sugar apart from free dhotis and saris.
There are 1.86 crore ration cards entitled to rice purchase from the ration shops.
Dhotis & saris to be distributed free this year have been manufactures at the cost of Rs. 486 Crores.
The items haven dispatched to all district taluk offices through trucks.
1.6 Crore people are set to enjoy free dhotis & saris this year during the 1st week of January.
