Corporation draws a new map for park location!

The corporation has drawn a new map for creation of pavement parks and new handrails in the marina beach stretch without giving due consideration to the increasing number of shops in the beach spoiling the beauty and being a health hazard as well.
Chennai Corporation maintains the Marins Beach, which is one of the world’s popular tourist destinations.
During the previous DMK-led government, the stretch between the Labourers’ statue and Lighthouse was beautified with a park.
However, there was no maintenance and the parks were neglected to wild growths for an unpleasant sight.
Now, Chennai Corporation has drawn a new map to reconstruct this park. Flower plants, fountains, new pavement & handrails, and beautiful lawn are all included in this plan.
Officials informed that the cost estimation of the project is in progress and the work will commence shortly. The target is to restore the Marina Beach with a beautiful park before the next assembly elections.
However, there are plenty of shops which spoil the beauty of the beach. 2 years ago, there were about 1200 shops. Now, they have exceeded 2500!
The shops really stretch till the water shore area.The shops operate in the night with the generators and lights while a lot of litter is thrown around.
In fact, a few families live in this area indulging in all household activities including washing utensils & clothes.
The social enthusiasts strongly observe that without controlling these shops, any action on beautification of the beach with new park, etc, will not be of any use.
