E-taxis - an advanced move to ensure safety of tourists in airports

According to experts, the proposal of union tourism ministry to kick-start electronic or e-chip enabled taxis at airport targeting to improve the safety levels of tourists (domestic and international) is a welcome move, however these cabbies should turn even more civil with the guests visiting the country.
Tourism experts say that it is feasible to introduce a monitoring system to keep an eye on movements of cabs. This will work out well in states where there is increasing number of violence action against tourists.
It is to be noted that Dr. Mahesh Sharma, immediately after taking charge as the Union Minister of the state for tourism and culture and civil aviation, announced about the introduction of e-chip facility at airports which will get done in just three months.
Tourists who visit the airport will be give a card (e-chip card) belonging to the respective taxi allotted to him/her. This will contain details of the auto driver, routes he travels through and the destination where he drops the passenger. This will keep maintaining records of all the roads traveled by the driver, and where the passenger disembarks.
Considering Chennai airport for instance, there are over 2000 taxis that are functioning regularly. The three taxis functioning from here are: Chennai Airport Prepaid Taxi Owners-Drivers Association, Fast Track Pvt. Ltd, and Aviation Express.
As of now, there is not even a single complaint of harassment or violence against passengers. However, complaints about exorbitant pricing are on the rise. The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) is showing special attention towards safety of tourists.
