Service camp for immediate issue of passports

People apply for passports for various missions such as jobs, touring, trading, and pursuit of further studies.
In earlier times, it used to take months together to get passports.
Chennai Region Passport Officer, Mr. C. Senthilpandian has been asking some bold measures to reduce the time for issue of passports.
For all ‘on-line’ passport applications with proper proofs attached, steps are taken to ensure that the passports are sent within a week’s time. The passport offices in districts conduct special camps to receive applications for passport and process them quickly.
Passport centres have been opened at Shaligramam, Aminjikarai, and Tambaram.
A passport issue camp was conducted for 2 days recently at Cuddalore for the local people avoiding the requirement to travel for this purpose. More than 200 applications were received.
26,250 passport applications are received on an average every year.
Chennai Regional Passport Office received 125 applications per day.
