Stolen Gold jewellery worth 2800 sovereigns recovered!

Chennai Police have been tracking the criminals associated with several thefts in the past few months.
So far, they have arrested 504 individuals associated with 405 cases.
Police have recovered gold jewellery worth 2800 sovereigns, silver articles worth 37 kg, 294 diamond stones, cash of Rs. 5 Lakhs and a lot of electronic goods.
The total worth of the above is estimated at Rs. 80.5 Crores.
The event of handing over these stolen items to the respective owners was conducted yesterday at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s Office.
Commissioner George participated and handed over the stolen items to the owners.
Other senior additional commissioners & joint commissioners were also present.
The stolen articles, especially, the jewellery items, were kept in 2 rooms in the ground floor for display. The place looked like a jewellery shop!
The owners were waiting to receive their items.
This year, the crimes have reduced by 15% as compared to the last year.
There were 74 mugging cases last year. This year, there have been 64 cases so far.
There were 506 chain snatching incidents last year. This year, 389 chain-snatching incidents have been recorded so far.
There were 163 murders last year. This year, there have been 125 murders so far.
This year, 1748 persons have been arrested under the Goondas Act. However, there were 1601 arrests last year.
Merit certificates were given to the hard-working police inspectors.
