469 camps for registration for Aadhar Cards in Tamil Nadu!

469 camps have been organised for registration of Aadhar Cards throughout Tamil Nadu.

Aadhar card scheme was started by the previous Congress-led UPA government.

The card was meant to be used for extending subsidies and to function as an identity card.

Subsequently,  there was a change in government. Initially, the new BJP government did not show interest in pursuing Aadhar Card plans. Later, the Prime Minister announced that Aadhar cards would be resumed.

Public have been enthusiastic to receive Aadhar cards.

Finger prints and eye-balls are registered biometrically in Aadhar card.

In the first phase, biometric registration for Aadhar cards is being completed in all Tamil Nadu Districts.

2nd phase activates have completed in most districts.

Further progress is being made in other districts.

Presently, 268 permanent camps have been organised throughout Tamil Nadu for the registration of Aadhar cards. They are located in Taluk Offices and Corporation zonal offices.

In order to speed up completion, 469 permanent camps are being organised.

There are 18 permanent camps in Chennai. This will be increased to 50.

Registration from the temporary camps has been entered on computers and then biometric registration will be completed. 

However, this can be done in 1 or 2 days in permanent camps.

So far, 5 Crore biometric data has been collected.4.67 Crore individuals have been issued Aadhar cards.

25.94 biometric data has been registered in Chennai. This amounts to 67.47%.

Perambalur district registered the maximum of 89.23%. This is followed by Ramandapuram district – 85.65%, Ariyalur – 81.61%, Trichy – 81.61% and Nagai – 81.54%.
