Packed meals from 5 popular restaurants at Chennai Central

Passengers travelling from Chennai Central railway station will now be able to buy packed meals from five popular restaurants. Southern Railway general manager Rakesh Misra opened ` Atchayam Food Box`, a fully automated, multi-brand food retailing unit at the railway station on Wednesday .
This is a new concept where packed food can be dispensed to passengers who wish to buy meals from popular restaurants. Pre-packed food loaded into a machine will be dispensed after heating within a few seconds of ordering.
Food from Adyar Ananda Bhavan, Asif Biriyani, Moti Mahal, Madurai Appu and Mr Chow will be available at the outlet.
Railways is trying out different options of catering because there have been complaints about the quality of food available at stations. There are two food plazas at Central railway station. This model is different because food from five restaurants will be available to passengers without having to rope in those restaurants to set up shops at the station.
