Experts sense a change in flowering and bird migration patterns

Ecologists have been avid about observing the changes in pattern of flowering and migration of birds within Indian sub-continent. According to researchers, climatic changes in Sikkim in eastern Himalayas, Pulicat in Andhra and Sathyamangalam in Western chats have huge impact in bringing climatic changes.
Indications of bird migration includes change in nesting pattern of swift bird in Sathyamangalam, prolonged stay by flamingoes at Pulicat on borders of Andhra and Tamil Nadu, etc.
Explaining about the changes in flowering pattern, professor D. Narasimhan, department of botany, Centre for Floristic Research, Madras Christian College says flowers that usually commence blooming by November and reach the peak by December are procrastinating the processes to later days.
Similarly, Golden Shower Tree, Casia Fistula which is referred as Kondrai Poo in Tamil flowers in peak summer times in convention. This however is getting delayed up to August now. Researchers cite climatic changes and seasonal occurrence as the primitive reason for such delay in flowering. According to them, it is important to have database of at least past 100 years if one needs to study the change in such scenarios.
