Chennai Corporation to replace uncooperative helpline employees

The civic body will replace uncooperative helpline employees who are presently attending 1913 helpline calls received from the public.

The system introduced last year has now come under the scanner following several lapses on the part of staff assigned to the job.The civic body commenced recording and voice audit of all the calls made by residents to identify the exact number of complaints that have been registered.

The employees frequently postponed registration of complaints to prevent registration of complaints regarding certain departments. In some cases, they dissuaded the callers from filing complaints by citing reasons for the delay – such as work carried out by other agencies like Metrowater department and Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL).
