World Vegetarian Day

The Indian Vegetarian Congress, engaged in promoting vegetarianism among the people celebrated World Vegetarian Day, at AVM Rajeswari Kalyana Mandapam, Mylapore, on October 6. As part of the celebrations, several competitions for children and women were held, including painting competition, cookery competition and fancy dress competition. The aim of the competitions was to spread awareness on the merits of vegetarianism as a healthy means of life and its ecological necessity especially among the younger generation. The cooking competition was open to all age groups.
250 students from various schools and 150 college students and more than 100 housewives participated in these competitions. Prizes were awarded to the winners in the evening.
