EB Charges to be raised from 15th November?

There is information that new rates for electricity consumption will come into effect from 15th November in Tamil Nadu.
The proposal for the revised rates was announced by TANGEDCO on 23rd September.
The rates have been revised upwards by 15% with the expected earnings of TANGEDCO being Rs. 6805 Crores.
TANGEDCO has asked for the public response & feedback by e-mail or in person before 23rd October. Consultation meetings with public were scheduled at Chennai, Madurai, and Coimbatore. However, there is a stipulation that these meetings should be announced 10 days in advance.
Following the recent conviction of the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and the subsequent developments, there have been difficulties in organising these meeting in the prevailing situation.
TANGEDCO has planned to conduct a few meeting before putting up their recommendations to the state government. As no major changes are expected, it is likely that the new rates will be effective from 15th November.
