15th Metro Train arrives in Chennai!

The 15th metro train, manufactured at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, despatched in trailer-trucks by road, reached Chennai Koyambedu Metro workshop.
This is the 5th train to be manufactured in India. 42 trains are planned for the Chennai Metro Rail Project. Alstom, Brazil manufactures the trains. 9 trains from Brazil & 33 from Andhra Pradesh are to be made & sent. 9 trains from Brazil have already arrived by ship. Each train has 4 coaches.
Alstom, Brazil, opened a branch of its manufacturing facility at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh and has started manufacture. The 6th train manufactured here has reached Chennai. The cost of manufacture of a single coach is Rs. 9 Crores. The total estimated cost is Rs.1471.39 Crores.
Presently, the Metro Rail Project has 15 trains ready for operation.
