Beware of mobile malware

Considering mobile malware attacks, Chennai stands in fourth position in the entire country. Chennaites are required to be aware of forwarded SMS or MMS as they are prone to infect the mobile phone with malware.
Bangalore, Hyderabad and New Delhi rank in the first three positions in getting attacked by such cyber viruses.
Moreover, Android phones are more prone to these attacks. Out of the 295 malware attacks on smartphones, Android phones had 294 and only one was on iOS. Trojans were dominant in the android threats. This is wide-spread through SMS. The malware takes away data from the mobile phone and data are transferred to a remote service.
Considering the first half of 2014, there is a significant increase in total number of virus attacks that demands ransom for giving back user data.
A similar malware in android applications is the Slocker malware which was identified in June 2014.
To note, India ranks fourth in this kind of mobile malware attacks.
