Two wards in city go to polls on Sept 18

Two Chennai wards, 35 (Tondiarpet) and 166 (Alandur), will go to bypolls on September 18, along with mayoral polls in Coimbatore, Tirunelveli and Tuticorin corporations. The vacancies in rural and urban local bodies were due to deaths and resignations.
The state election commission on Thursday announced that filing of nominations will close on September 4 and counting of votes is scheduled for September 22.
